Sam Jackson is an artist working across new media and sculpture. A technologist by trade, his practice frequently involves the use of custom software and various high-tech peripherals.

Regarding his code-based projects, Jackson takes inspiration from painting. His generative work centers around carefully composed pictorial spaces, rather than pure algorithmic outputs. His work investigates themes of emergence, contingency and flow against the backdrop of a world where life is increasingly mediated through technology.

His work has been shown with galleries such as Public Works Authority and Plexus Projects. He previously worked extensively with Tishan Hsu on new media works such as Folds of Oil and I Need You that have been shown at venues such as the Hammer Museum and SculptureCenter.
